     I give here the definition for file format as provided in the original 1987 disk. The content is the same (given here in black), and it is retained as such because it is still applicable, but it has been updated for browser display.

Format

FILE FORMAT FOR TEXTS IN GRAPHEMIC FORMAT (March 17, 1987)

FILE NAME sequential number of disk (and item, e. g. text)
no spaces allowed
maximum length: 8 characters

cannot be used otherwise in line initial position
TITLE full title of text, by volume and text number
no spaces allowed
maximum length: 10 characters
e.g.: TFR1.01 or TFR101

LINE each other record begins with text line number
e.g. 01 or 01' or 01a
WORD each record has at least one word,
i.e. a string of characters delimited by space on the left
and either space or "carriage return" at the end
(WORD WORD ...) as many other "words" may occur
maximum line length: 244 characters
single space allowed as separator
e.g. 2 2/3 SAR E2 i-na URU g_bi2-d[ah?]-=KI
